Tigers Select Travis Demeritte’s Contract
The Detroit Tigers promoted Travis Demeritte to the major leagues on Thursday. Demeritte restored some of his prospect value with a huge season for Gwinnett and was part of Atlanta’s package sent to the Tigers for closer Shane Greene.

Major League Baseball came down hard on the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday suspending six players and both managers for their roles in a bench clearing brawl Tuesday night. All of the players suspended are appealing the suspensions but David Bell and Clint Hurdle’s suspensions began Thursday night.
